General Information for Journal Authors
Preparing your manuscript for publication
Submitting your manuscript
A Consent to Publish and Copyright Agreement is required before a paper will be published. These can be found on the home page of each journal. AMS authors may choose to dedicate their work to the public domain after 28 years from date of publication. For further information, see the article by John Ewing in the March 2004 issue of the Notices of the American Mathematical Society entitled A Modest Proposal.
Permissions
Authors should obtain written permissions for use in their work of tables, figures, text, and other material taken from another source and previously published or owned by another author or publisher for use in both the print and electronic media.
Where to send files for accepted papers
Links to specific instructions are available on each journal's home page.
Tracking the progress of your manuscript
Track an accepted article through the AMS journals publication stream using the Manuscript tracking system.
Making changes to articles after posting
To preserve the integrity of electronically published articles, once an article is individually posted but not yet in an issue, changes cannot be made in place in the article. The AMS policy on making changes to articles after posting provides information about submitting an "Added after posting" section, if the article has not been published in a print issue, or an Errata, if the article has already been included in an issue.
Information for authors on submitting citations
This feature of the journals program allows authors to keep their articles dynamic by listing citations made to their work. Citations submitted will appear on the abstract page of the article.
You may add citations to your article from the Journals Commentary system.
Offprints
The American Mathematical Society is pleased to announce a change in our offprint delivery method for most AMS journals. In an effort to provide authors with permanent access to articles after publication and to reduce our carbon footprint through a green initiative, our old system of delivering paper offprints is being replaced with an electronic delivery system beginning with the January 2010 issues.
For most AMS journals, offprints will be provided in electronic form free of charge. A downloadable and printable PDF of each published article will be available to authors immediately following publication.
